MILTON-FREEWATER — The La Grande volleyball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday night with a three-game sweep of McLoughlin 25-15, 25-13 and 25-18. The Tigers used a dominant serving game to take control of all three games as they cruised to an easy win. “Serving was our focal point coming into this match and the girls did a really good job with it,” head coach Melinda Becker said. “You can win a lot of games at this level with serving and serve-receive, and we did that tonight.” La Grande had five players serve 100 percent, and three players finished the match at 95 percent.Brittany Elliot had 10 assists for the Tigers. Shelby Hasse had six kills, six assists and was three-for-three on serve-receive. Tessa Tsiatsos came off the bench to record 14 digs and was 95 percent serving. Cami Bell also finished the match with six kills, while Mariah Sain had four kills. Mackenzie Trotter was 13 for 15 on serve-recieve. “I was able to mix up my lineup tonight and got a lot of girls in the game,” Becker said. “We only missed three serves for the match and we did a nice job on defense.” The Tigers are now 3-1 in league play and have a pivotal match-up with Baker Thursday night. “We have to stay focused as a team and continue to do the little things when we play Baker. The girls always seem to get excited when we play them.” The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at LHS.
