UNION — The Lady Cats eliminated Elgin/Imbler from the Special District 6 league playoffs Wednesday with an 11-1 victory.

Union/Cove will now face Pine Eagle Friday in Enterprise. The Spartans defeated Wallowa 10-1 Wednesday.

The winner between the Lady Cats and Spartans will face Enterprise for the district title.

Against the Ravens, Union/Cove’s Keesha Sarman scored on an hard hit ball to third base that the fielder couldn’t handle to get the Lady Cats on the board in the bottom of the first.

An RBI groundout by Kaci Langford later in the inning extended the lead to 2-0.

Union/Cove added two more runs in the second inning on a two-run single by Amber Fiorito that brought home Carsyn Roberts and Dani Sturm to make it a 4-0 advantage.

Elgin/Imbler finally moved a run across in the fifth inning when Danika McIntosh drew a bases-loaded walk, but the Ravens couldn’t do any more damage and left the bases loaded for the second time in the game.

Union/Cove blew the game open in the sixth inning when Sturm and Fiorito both hit two-run doubles to make it 8-1.

Later in the inning, Kindra Moore’s RBI groundout put the 10-run rule into effect to end the game and move Union/Cove on to the next round.

Sturm picked up the win on the mound, going six innings and striking out three.

McIntosh struck out four while taking the loss.

The Lady Cats will square off with Pine Eagle in Enterprise starting at noon on Friday.

The winner will take on the Cubs following that.
