The Elgin girls basketball team grabbed an early lead against Irrigon Friday, but the Lady Huskies couldn’t sustain it as the Knights went on to win 50-34 at Eastern Oregon University.

The Lady Huskies led 8-7 after one.
But the tide started to turn Irrigon’s way after that.

Elgin cut the score to 15-12 with 3:38 to go before halftime, but Irrigon closed the half on a 7-2 run to lead 22-14.
The Lady Huskies made a brief run to start the third quarter, getting within four points at 24-20. But a 10-2 close stretched the Irrigon lead to 34-20 and the Knights never looked back.
Miah Slater led Elgin with 12 points, while Jordyn Anderson added nine. Katie Witherspoon scored six, Jessie Bottger put in four and Silver finished with three.
Elgin made just 12 of 26 free throws in the loss.
