Lady Mounties one win away from Cascade Conference title
Lady Mounties one win away from Cascade Conference title

CALDWELL, Idaho — Finding a way to get it done. That’s been the theme this season for these Lady Mountaineers, and it continued in an 82-73 victory at College of Idaho on Tuesday night. EOU can lock up the Cascade Conference Title at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with a victory versus Northwest Christian College at Quinn Coliseum. As for this game, Sheena Henderson (31 points, nine rebounds) and Tiffanie Ulmer (23 points, 15 rebounds) were dominant in a hard fought, see-saw affair. “We had to really work hard tonight,” EOU coach Anji Weissenfluh said. “It was a battle right down to the end.” Now it’s onto Saturday. And possibly clinching the conference title on Senior Night at home. “We’re taking nothing for granted,” Weissenfluh said. “We’ve got to play our game and get it done.” The Mounties have done that all season long. They lost Whitney Leman to injury at the start of the season. Then they lost Laura Olsen to a torn ACL four minutes into the second half Saturday at Evergreen State. Two talented guards gone, yet the Mounties (23-4, 16-3) continue to win. “We’ve just overcome a lot,” Weissenfluh said. “I’m just really proud of the girls.” |
