Lady Tigers fall to Warriors, 4-0
PHILOMATH — Philomath brought an end to the La Grande girls soccer team’s season Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 4A state playoffs.
The Warriors pulled out a 4-0 victory.
“It was a tough one. But we played well. I’m not the least bit disappointed,” coach Sam Brown said.
The Warriors scored twice in the opening 20 minutes of play and added two more goals toward the end of regulation.
“The field was a little longer than ours so our defense was stretched out. We threatened several times but they applied a lot of pressure and we just couldn’t get anything on goal,” Brown said.
The loss ends a season in which LHS finished 12-1 overall with a Greater Oregon League championship.
The Lady Tigers lose four seniors but are expected to return nine starters, Brown said.
