The La Grande girls soccer team finished off the regular season with a 2-0 victory over Baker Saturday, wrapping up the regular-season league title for the Lady Tigers.

LHS finishes with a 12-1 overall record and went 8-1 in the Greater Oregon League.

Saturday’s game was played in a mud bowl, with rain pouring for the majority of the contest.

That made things hard on both teams.

“The field made everything difficult,” coach Sam Brown said.

“Nothing was normal. My girls were still able to maintain possession and we had plenty of opportunities, though.”

Kayla Rasmussen broke a scoreless match with a goal in the second half before Erin Bodfish added to the Lady Tigers’ lead a little later.

Alora Brown had a goal called back for an offsides penalty by a couple inches.

La Grande is ranked No. 6 in the latest OSAA poll. But with games scheduled to take place this week, that can still change.

It’s likely that LHS will host a first-round playoff game Nov 6., but who the opponent will be is still to be determined.

“We’re just going to train for the next week and a half. We’ll work to keep ourselves sharp and keep focused,” Brown said.

Ontario, the No. 2 team in the GOL, will have a play-in game, but the league is not guarenteed three teams this season.
