Home arrow Sports arrow MANY TURN OUT FOR 8K, HALF MARATHON


COVE — Steve Sheehy of Union won the 8K Saturday at the Grande Ronde Roadrunners/Cove Arts Festival and Cherry Fair. Dillon Moore of Haines won the half-marathon.

Sheehy's time was 27 minutes and five seconds. Johan Koenig of Cove took second (24:45), and Scott Brazil of Cove was third (28:21).

Moore's time was one hour, 36 minutes and 49 seconds for the half-marathon. Taking second was Jim Arritola of La Grande (1:37:22), and Matt Hensley of Baker City took third (1:40:01).

In the women's 8K, Christi Cavin of Cove earned first place (37:18). Diana Grandeen captured second (34:55), and there was a third place tie between Catherine and Nella Parks (42:15).

There was a three-way tie in the women's half-marathon. Mary Ellen LaBerge and Korrie Dubray, both of La Grande, and Lin Williams of Cove finished in 1:55:42.

All proceeds from the races helped defray expenses of the Arts Festival.
