Leah Merrell ended her track and field career at Eastern Oregon University with another All-American performance.

The senior finished fourth in the hammer throw Thursday at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Olathe, Kan.

Her throw of 162 feet, 8 inches earned Merrell her 11th All-American honor in her four-year collegiate career.

Meanwhile, in St. Paul, Minn., Eastern sophomore Shawn Trimble also received All-American status with a fourth-place showing in the men's pole vault at the NCAA Division III national meet. Trimble vaulted 16-0, tying his season best.

Also in St. Paul, Eastern's Sean Williams was ninth in the 1,500-meter prelims and qualified for Saturday's final. His time was 3 minutes, 55.43 seconds.

At the NAIA men's 1,500 prelims, Eastern's David Terry qualified for Saturday's final by finishing ninth with a time of 3:59.37. Teammate Pat Egelus missed the finals by finishing 15th in 4:07.16.

Rain in Kansas slowed down the meet, including a delay in some decathlon events contested by Eastern's Matt Young, the men's steeplechase run by Ben Terry and the men's 10,000 run by Ben Gall, Eric Griffiths and Tim Riley.

Both national meets conclude Saturday.
