MIDWAY VICTORIOUS IN ANNUAL TOURNEY
![]() PITCHING AWAY: Richard Loose, formerly of Cove, played for a Salem team Saturday during the La Grande Optimist Club Men's Moonlight Softball Tournament. The tourney drew 32 teams from across the state. (The Observer/KELLY WARD). Midway Tavern of Hermiston topped the 32-team field at the annual La Grande Optimist Club Mens Moonlight Softball Tournament. Midway Tavern beat La Grandes Rain Roofing 23-17 in the Sunday title contest. Rain Roofing beat The Wrangler of Bend 29-28 in the battle for second and third place. Steve Cain of Midway Tavern won the MVP award for the three-day tournament, which started Friday and ended Sunday evening with non-stop play. La Grande Optimist Mens Moonlight Softball Tournament Friday through Sunday at Pioneer Park 1st place Midway Tavern of Hermiston; 2nd place Rain Roofing of La Grande; 3rd place The Wrangler of Bend; 4th place Long Branch of La Grande; 5th place Elkhorn Saloon of Sumpter; 6th place Pendleton Merchants; 7th place (tie) Boise Sox and Century 21 of Pendleton.
