MOUNTAINEERS BREAK LOSING STREAK, WIN TWO

The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers snapped a 12-game losing streak Friday with a pair of wins over Western Baptist at Snowflake Field.
Easterns Robert Dorchak hit his third home run of the season in a 6-2 victory in the first game of the NAIA Region I baseball doubleheader.
Ryan Banks pitched an eight-hit complete game in his Mountaineers debut in the second game, a 5-1 victory.
Dorchak, the designated hitter, went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the first game. Second baseman Gary Hopf was 2-for-3 and right fielder Jeremy Iverson and third baseman Devron Carriere were both 2-for-4. Carriere had two RBIs.
Lloyd Gage pitched the full seven innings, striking out eight while giving up seven hits and one walk. The win was his second of the season.
Banks, who was ineligible winter term, also struck out eight and gave up eight hits and one walk over nine innings.
Carriere was 2-for-4 in the second game, too, and left fielder Scotty Tondevold was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Center fielder Dan Curfew was 2-for-4.
The two teams are scheduled to play another doubleheader today at Snowflake.
