McGinnis-Parker runs over Montana Tech, EOU wins on the road
BUTTE, Mont. — Behind 202 rushing yards by Chris McGinnis-Parker, the Eastern Oregon University football team beat Montana Tech 45-30 Saturday in a Frontier Conference showdown.
The Mountaineers (3-5 overall, 3-4 Frontier Conference) raced out to a 17-0 first-quarter lead on a 7-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Woody, a 30-yard field goal by Marc David and an interception returned for a touchdown by Anthony Lyngar.
Dominique Blackman and T.J. Esekielu both added touchdown passes in the second quarter to stretch the EOU lead to 31-7 at halftime.
The Orediggers got within 16 points at 38-22 late in the third quarter, but an 82-yard touchdown run by McGinnis-Parker squashed any comeback attempt.
Blackman completed 16-of-26 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. He added 80 yards rushing. Jace Billingsley caught seven passes for 80 yards and a score, while Justin Hernandez had five grabs for 61 yards.
The Mountaineers will host Dickinson State Saturday at noon at Community Stadium.
