Mountaineers finish fourth in Cascade Conference all-sports trophy standings

Eastern Oregon University ranked fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy final standings Wednesday.

The Mountaineers finish fourth for the second straight season. EOU totaled 107 points in the standings; it’s lowest since the award began in 2006-07.

Eastern won the 2007-08 trophy with 145 points.

The Mountaineer women’s basketball team, volleyball team, and women’s track and field team each had the highest conference finishes for EOU in 2011-12, each finishing in third place in their respective sports.

Concordia placed first for the fourth straight year, and fifth out of the six years in the trophy’s history. The Cavaliers earned championships in both men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s track and field. They also finished second overall in men’s and women’s cross country.

The College of Idaho finished a close second with 130 points.

The Yotes won the CCC volleyball and women’s cross country championships and finished second in women’s basketball and women’s track and field.

Rounding out the top five were Southern Oregon University with 115 points, Eastern Oregon University with 107 points and Corban University with 101 points.

Points are awarded based on regular season finish.

Two points are awarded for each institution sponsoring a sport. Points are tallied using each institutions eight highest place finishes.
