CRESWELL — Perspective is everything.

One day the Enterprise boys golf team will look back with fond memories of a second place finish at the state tournament. For now, it’s thinking about what might have been.

The 6,479-yard course took its toll on the field Tuesday.

“This is a championship course,” Enterprise head coach Mike Crawford said. “There are no flat putts, and the pin placements didn’t help lower the numbers.”

Only McKenzie’s Casey King navigated the course without getting hurt.

King shot a 4-under-par 68. He moved from third to a tie for first with Alex Harding of Westside Christian.

Outlaws freshman Cole Sajonia also made a move up the leaderboard. Sajonia finished tied for fourth with a 159.

“It’s a great start for (Cole),” Crawford said. “He played real solid. The motivation is there to do more next season.”

Junior Dakota Hull fell back three spots to sixth.

Two triple bogeys typified the unrelenting greens.

One 10-foot putt missed the cup and went 40 feet past the hole and off the green.

“That happened to a lot of golfers,” Crawford said. (Dakota) had missed some opportunities, but had a good day.”

The Outlaws held steady to finish in second place by shooting a 670.

Westside Christian finished first with a 625.

“We pressed a little bit trying to make up ground,” Crawford said. “The boys know they

didn’t play their best. Still, they realized their score was the best 2A score. We’ll see what happens next year.”

Wallowa’s Tyler Harshfield finished as steady as he started.

After opening with an 85, he finished with the same score on Day 2. Harshfield finished tied for 15th.
