By The Observer Theres still room on the final Grande Ronde River rafting trip of the City of La Grandes Summer Recreation Program. The three-day, two-night trip between Minam Park and Troy begins at 8 a.m. Monday and returns by 4 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $100 and anyone interested should stop by the second floor of City Hall, 1000 Adams Ave., or contact Minnie Tucker at 962-1352. If raftings not your gig, read the list to find out whats happening in the coming weeks. SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM River Rafting on the Grande Ronde Who: Ages 10-16. Limit of 10 students per session. What: Students will introduced to the basics of river rafting during a three-day, two-night raft trip on the Grande Ronde River between Minam Park and Wildcat Bridge near Troy. Adult guides, life jackets, meals and rafting supplies furnished. Session III: June 18-20, depart 8 a.m. Monday, return 4 p.m. Wednesday. Cost: $100. Contact: Summer Recreation Program, 962-1352. Dance Sampler Who: Ages 2-older. Limited to 15 students per session. What: Designed to provide an overall view of all styles of dance. When: Two sessions, June 18-21, June 25-28. Times: Ages 2-3, 9:30-10 a.m. for parents and toddlers; ages 4-5, 10-10:45 a.m.; ages 6-8, 10:40-11:30 a.m.; ages 9-12, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; teens and adults, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Where: Central Elementary School gym. What: Children will be instructed on using clay to create designs, both by hand and on a wheel. Ages 5-8: Session I: June 18, 19, 25, 26, 10-11:30 a.m.; Session II: July 17, 18, 24, 25, noon-1:30 p.m. Ages 9-older: Session I: June 18, 19, 25, 26, noon-1:30 p.m.; Session II: July 17, 18, 24, 25, 10-11:30 a.m. Where: La Grande High School Art Room Cost: $30. What: Exploration of drawing, including line, mark making, texture, modeling and value consideration. Supplies furnished. Ages 4-8: June 19-22, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Clay Camp for Adults When: June 20, 21, 27, 28, 7-9 p.m. Contact: Call 962-1352 for information. THINK LINK CLASSES Preschool Prime Time Who: Preschoolers and their parents. What: Simple crafts offered as well as playtime. When: Thursdays in June and July, 10-11:30 a.m. Where: Think Link Discovery Center, 906 Washington Ave. Cost: $2 each day for parent and child together. Contact: Think Link, 975-2040. Ojo de Dios (Gods Eyes) What: Weave yarn around sticks to create a beautiful pattern. Taught by Rosina Armon. Dutch Oven Cooking What: Learn how to make a variety of foods in Dutch ovens. Taught by Eric Valentine. Contact: Think Link, 975-2040. SPORTS CAMPS Have-A-Ball Who: Grades 1-12. What: Bowling teams for youth. Register for the full 10 weeks and receive a bowling ball, shoe bag or shoes. When: Through Aug. 16. Tuesdays & Thursdays: Grades 1-6, 9:30 a.m.; grades 7-12, 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays: Grades 7-12, 9:30 a.m.; grades 1-6, 1:30 p.m. Where: The Rock Bowling and Fun Center. What: Campers will be taught fundamentals such as shooting, ball handling, man-to-man defense and rebounding. Fun emphasized, T-shirt included. When: June 18-21. Water Babies Class Who: Parents and babies 6 months to 3 years. What: Skills introduced include blowing bubbles, kicking, entering and exiting pool, jumping, submersion, arm movement, back float and bobbing.
