LAKEVIEW — The Union girls basketball season came to an end one step away from returning to Pendleton for the final eight.
Lakeview took advantage of trips to the foul line during a 47-41 win.
The Bobcats built an 18-11 first quarter lead, and held the upper-hand 29-28 headed into the final quarter.

Imbler junior A.J. Plummer took that approach at the 2A/1A State Wrestling Championships in Portland.
It lead to an impressive 3-0 record, and landed Plummer a state title.

And after it was all said and done, Dylan McCallum came out on top as a state champion at 112 pounds for the Tigers.
“It’s every kids’ dream to be a state champion,” La Grande head coach Klel Carson said. “There can only be one state champ, and this year it’s Dylan. I’m really proud of him.”

offense in a 45-30 loss to rival Baker.
“We missed a couple of gimmes early on and I think we got frustrated after that,”
La Grande head coach Doug Girdner said. “That led to us letting up on defense and giving them a lot of good looks.”

JOSEPH — The Joseph girls basketball team had its season come
to an end Tuesday night in the first round of the 1A State Playoffs.
The Eagles lost to Helix 54-26.
The Grizzlies jumped on Joseph early, taking a 14-5 lead after just
one quarter of play. Helix would stretch the lead to 26-9 at halftime.
“Helix shot the ball really well,” Joseph assistant coach Breanna
Stephens said. “They got the ball inside and we just couldn’t get
anything going.”
