IMBLER — An off shooting night sunk the Panthers boys basketball team against Echo.
Imbler shot 31 percent from the field during a 55-36 loss.
Jake McLean was the lone Panther in double figures. He finished with 13 points and added 10 rebounds.

UNION — Cody and Tyler Fouts helped Union top Imbler Tuesday.
The Bobcats built an early lead and held on for a 73-60 win.
Cody Fouts went 4 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc, and finished with 16 points.

his Outlaws’ team defeated Elgin 66-56 in the Blue Mountain Conference
opener. The 5-foot-10 junior let his game do the talking.
Micka scored 22 points as the Outlaws held off the Huskies.
“We
thought (Elgin) was getting lucky with some of its shots,” Micka said.
“The goal was to just stay in the game. We knew our time would come.”

The Outlaws were looking to fill the holes left by graduation — three starters in total.
Alex McCadden received a pep talk that has helped the Outlaws to a 7-2 record this season.

Baby steps is how head coach Doug Girdner described the progress of
the La Grande girls basketball team after a pair of losses this weekend
to Pendleton and The Dalles.
“We just don’t have all five players on the same page right now,”
Girdner said. “We have a lot of things to iron out still as a team.”
The Tigers got run out of the building Friday night against a
fast-paced Pendleton squad. After trailing by three after the first
quarter, the Tigers got outscored 27-4 in the second and trailed 40-14
at halftime.

The Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball team, No. 21 in the
NAIA, held off No. 5 Oregon Institute of Technology 73-65 in front of a
small contingent of Mountaineer fans Saturday.

WALLA WALLA — The La Grande swim team made a trip to Walla Walla, for a dual meet Thursday night.
The Tigers fared well in just its second meet of the season.
Allie Godfrey had an outstanding performance for the Tigers, winning
both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Godfrey also
finished in first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with teammates
Logan Gomez, Erin Caravan and Makaela O’Rourke.

Pilot Rock was the lone team from the conference to advance to the
Class 2A State Tournament final site last year. The Rockets fell to the
eventual runner-up De La Salle-North 74-55.
The Rockets graduated the Conference Player of the Year, Chance Bandy.
