A little precipitation couldnt stop Rain Roofing from picking up its 17th win of the season Monday.

Battling weather, La Grande used three-hit performances from Drew Fischer and Dollen Stroup and beat Pendletons Hodgen Distributing 11-6 in an American Legion baseball contest.

La Grande (17-9) broke a 3-all tie through two innings when Aaron Thomas belted a two-run double to left/center field in the third inning.

The fourth inning sealed the win as Rain Roofing added three more runs.

Shane Slover and Jeremy George led off the inning with back-to-back walks. Two batters later, Fischer drove Slover in on a single, followed by a Ty Mellinger sacrifice fly to center field. Stroup ended the scoring with a one-run single.

Pendleton rallied to within 9-6 in the top of the seventh, but La Grande closed the door with two runs in the eighth, keyed by a Stroup one-run double and a Jason Smith one-run sacrifice fly.

The game started close with Hodgen Distributing scoring twice in the opening inning. La Grande answered in the bottom of the first with two runs.

Each team scored in the second inning to keep the contest tied at 3-all.

Adam Kleck earned the win from the mound even though he allowed five runs on eight hits and four walks.

It was Rain Roofings offense that came alive that helped Kleck to his third win of the season.
