Eastern Oregon High School Rodeo will be well represented at the Oregon High School State Rodeo Finals in Redmond next week.
Travis Hampton, Jace Manjarres, Kristi Case, Kelsey Gordon and Sally Brown are preparing for state.
Hampton has qualified for calf and team roping.
"Feel fairly confident," he said about his events.
Manjarres also qualified for calf and team roping. He said he is really excited about his first state experience.
Gordon will also be at state for the first time. She is sitting 12th in cutting and 16th in barrel racing. Gordon has been doing rodeo for a long time.
Case is 10th in breakaway and 18th in team roping. Case said she has a better chance in breakaway because she's higher in the standings.
Brown is sixth in goat tying, seventh in pole bending, ninth in breakaway and 13th in team roping.
"I'd like to qualify to nationals in goat tying, and I'd like to make it to the final in the other events," she said.
The top 20 go to state, and the top four head on to the National High School Rodeo Finals in Farmington, N. M. beginning July 22.
"I'm looking forward to having a good state final and being smooth," Brown said. "It's really fun being around your peers. It's a great experience."
