La Grande sophomore Rachel Richards and Cove sophomore McKenzie Tally are headed for the Silver State International High School Rodeo held June 30 to July 5 in Fallon, NV.
At the Oregon High School Finals Rodeo last week in Klamath Falls, Richards placed eighth in the barrels event and seventh in goat tying, and Tally placed sixth in pole bending in the “short go,” which qualified them for the Silver State finals.
The SSIR is open to contestants who finish fifth through 10th in their state or provincial finals for the year.
Haines freshman Katie Hamann, who rodeos in Idaho, placed second in barrels at the Idaho High School Finals Rodeo, which qualifies her for the 60th annual National High School Rodeo Finals, held in Farmington, N.M. July 20 -26. NHSFR is open to contestants who finish first through fourth in their state or provincial finals for the year.
