BAKER CITY — The 51st Annual Shrine East-West football game is set for Saturday.

One-hundred twenty graduated seniors will participate in the game at 7 p.m. at Baker High School.

Kids from both the East and West squads have been busy visiting the Shrine Hospital in Portland and practicing at Eastern Oregon University.

Today, there will be a Shrine Game golf tournament, a shopping spree and a family picnic at 5 p.m. at La Grande's Riverside Park.

Each team consists of a 30-man team, and a 30-man alternate squad, composed of 14 players from 3A schools, 12 from 2A and four from 1A.

Playing for the East team will be La Grande quarterback Kyle Bomberger and Powder Valley offensive guard Brad Feik.

Picked as alternates (but not playing) were La Grande wide receiver Tyson Stebbins, Union quarterback Tim McReynolds, Imbler running back Steven Skillings, Joseph running back Dusty Witherrite, Enterprise offensive lineman Jimmy VanBelle and Powder Valley offensive lineman Rusty Fincher.

Game officials are Albert Orton of Union, who will be the referee. Greg Orton of La Grande will be the umpire.

Powder Valley head coach Alan Stanfield will serve as an assistant coach.
