Sisters sweep ends La Grande tourney run
EUGENE — The second-ranked 4A team handed La Grande its final loss of the season Saturday, 3-0.
The Outlaws may have gone into the playoffs and the state 4A tournament at Lane Community College as the second ranked team behind perennial power Crook County, but a 3-2 loss to Astoria in the opening round of the tournament Friday knocked the team into the consolation bracket.

It was a battle that the Outlaws won by a 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 margin. The loss dropped the Lady Tigers (18-6) into sixth place and ended their season.
La Grande opened the tournament with a five-set loss to Madras Friday morning.
It wasn’t a stampede Friday in the quarterfinals of the 4A state volleyball tournament.
But La Grande may have felt that way when White Buffaloes edged the Lady Tigers 3-2.
The loss dropped La Grande into the consolation bracket where they played Elmira Saturday. Elmira had lost to Crook County in a 3-0 sweep (25-11, 25-23, 25-8) in their opener.
The Tigers ended Falcons’ season with a five-set loss Saturday, putting the Lady Tigers in the consolation title match for fourth place Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, the White Buffaloes earned the chance to lose to perennial power Crook County in the semifinals with a three-set sweep (25-10, 25-18, 25-17). Madras went on to lose the third-place game to Banks by another three-game sweep Saturday.
Fifth-ranked La Grande entered the 4A quarterfinals with a 13th-ranked Madras (15-9) Friday.
