Summer Camp List

Who: Ages 6-15. Limited to 15 students per session.

What: Designed to provide an introduction to rock climbing. Students will learn basic skills of rope management, knot tying and belaying. Equipment provided.

Session IV: Aug. 13-16, 1-3 p.m.

Session V: Aug. 27-30, 1-3 p.m.

Where: Indoor climbing wall, Quinn Coliseum at Eastern Oregon University.

Cost: $32.50.

Who: Ages 10-15. Limited to 10 students per session; instructor approval required.

What: Designed for students who have previous climbing experience. Students will learn additional techniques in rope handling, safety, gear set-up and low environmental impact climbing. Equipment provided.

When: Aug. 24, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Where: Transportation provided to outdoor climbing area.

Cost: $32.50.

Who: Grades 7-12.

What: Camp run by La Grande High School volleyball team and sponsored by La Grande Optimist Club features Concordia head coach Joe Houck, Warner Pacific coach Chuck Hunter and Portland Volleyball Club coach Dan Sitter. Goal is to teach basic skills and provide campers with personalized attention and opportunities for competitive game play. Sponsored by La Grande Optimist Club.

When: Aug. 9-10, 8:30 a.m.-noon; 1:30-4 p.m.; 6:30-8 p.m.

Where: La Grande High School gym.

Cost: $75.

Who: Ages 8-15. Limited to 15 students per session.

What: Students will learn basics of game, including grip, swing mechanics, club selection and rules. Final day includes nine holes of golf. Clubs and balls provided.

Session III: Aug. 20-24, 9-11 a.m.; 7-11 on final day.

Session IV: Aug. 27-30, 9-11 a.m.; 7-11 on final day.

Where: Different location each day; enrollees will get schedule.

Cost: $32.50.

Who: Youth volleyball players.

What: Camp will be taught by Eastern Oregon volleyball coach Sharon Campbell. Bring a lunch or money for lunch. Registration deadline is Aug. 1.

When: Aug. 13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Aug. 14, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Aug. 15, 8 a.m.-noon.

Where: Elgin High School.

Cost: $65, includes T-shirt.

Who: Grades 2-12.

What: Sessions will include skill development in passing, running, kicking and blocking. Featuring 7-on-7 passing games, 6-on-6 flag games and superstar competition. T-shirt included.

Times: Grades 2-4, 8-10 a.m.; grades 5-8, 8-10:30 a.m.; grades 9-12, 6-8:30 p.m.
