Swim club kids show pride

The La Grande swim club held its annual aquathon. A total of 45 swimmers teamed up to complete 92.6 miles in two hours. On top of raising money for the club, the swimmers showcased their teamwork. Cody Dubray and Shelby Baker swam extra lengths in the pool to help encourage other swimmers to finish. “We constantly discuss the importance of teamwork and being good teammates within our club,” head coach Susie Evans said. “These kids are all so incredible. You really had to be here to feel the excitement and see the pride in their faces, as well as their parents, when they completed more then they could have imagined. It isn’t only kids that supported one another, but we had a wonderful turnout of parents and grandparents that took on various tasks from tracking the lap counts for swimmers, to serving up drinks and snacks.” Money raised through the fundraiser goes toward covering club costs and new equipment. Satori Young and Grace Simanton are members of the dolphin group. They had the challenge of doing 132 lengths or 2 miles.
