TIGER BOYS SETTLE FOR 10TH PLACE AT STATE

REDMOND La Grande High Schools boys golf team finished 10th Tuesday at the OSAA-U.S. Bank Class 3A State Boys Golf Championship.

La Grande cut 19 strokes off its Monday score of 340 and finished with a two-day score of 660.

Sisters and Taft battled for the team trophy, with Sisters scoring a 294 Tuesday to edge Taft by one, 602-603.

Valley Catholic was third at 614 and Scappoose was fourth at 627.

La Grandes top golfer was senior Zach Lauritzen, who shot a 74 Tuesday for a total 153, tied for 15th.

The kids were really disappointed they didnt do better. It was a good experience, though, a great season, a great year, La Grande coach Don McAndie said.

Todd McAndie was second for the Tigers at 165 after shooting a 79 Tuesday. Austin Young shot a 170 with a pair of 85s. Travis Geraci improved in his second round, shooting an 83 for a 173 total. And Tyler Tucker cut four strokes from his Monday score with an 86 for a two-day 176.

Jonathan Green of Sisters and Craig Nelson of Valley Catholic were the tournament medalists with 141s. Green shot 67 Tuesday and Nelson 69.
