Tigers bring in postseason awards
The hard work the La Grande football players put in during the offseason and throughout the year didn’t go unnoticed by the coaches in the Greater Oregon League.
The coaches gave the Tigers selections to the GOL first team —Tyson Wicklander accounted for three of them.
The senior was named to the first team as a wide receiver, defensive back and punter.
Junior Chase Huffman earned the other spot on the first team’s defensive line. Huffman was also a second-team selection as a running back.
The defense also did well in the postseason awards.
Sophomore Isaiah Cranford was a second-team selection on the defensive line. Senior linebackers Dylan McHargue and Caleb Smith made the second team. Junior Drew Hivley made the honorable mention team as a defensive back.
Brandon Cedarholm, a senior, was tabbed to the second team as a receiver. Sophomore Alec Cranford was named an honorable mention receiver.
McHargue made the second team as a center. Also on the offensive line, Craig Hopper, a senior, made the second team.
Jason Haueter of Ontario, a senior, was named the GOL Player of the Year.
Ontario’s Erik Johnson was named the coach of the year.
