Tigers card 302, take 2nd

MILTON-FREEWATER — The La Grande boys golf team finished second in Milton-Freewater Friday.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 302, while McLoughlin won with a 299.

Jake Girard finished second individually, carding a 72 on the par 60 course.

Daniel Seymour was third after finishing with a 73, while Andrew Kain of McLoughlin won the individual title with a 70 on his home course.

James Laurence shot an 80 for LHS, while Andrew Branen finished with an 83. Craig Wallace carded an 86.

“The kids played good,” LHS head coach Ron Evans said.

“The weather held up for them for the most part. We’re slowly getting (the score) down there, so we’re improving.”

Lady Tigers take first

MILTON-FREEWATER — The La Grande girls golf team took first place on Friday.

The Lady Tigers were led by Carrie Wallace, who fired a 76, good enough to take the individual title.

Kayli Miles finished second with an 89, followed by Madi Elms of Baker with a 97.

La Grande rounded out the top five with Cassidee Miller in fourth with a 114 and Dez Kellog fifth with a 120.

Sam Dunham carded a 141 for LHS, while Joshi Kirkham, playing in her first golf tournament ever, fired a 156.

“All of the girls played pretty good,” LHS assistant coach Jayne Baremore said. “Everyone is where they need to be at this time of year.”

LHS hosts a tournament Tuesday at La Grande Country Club starting at 1 p.m.
