Tigers grab league win by sweeping Ontario
ONTARIO — The La Grande volleyball team grabbed its second Greater Oregon League win this season by sweeping Ontario 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 Thursday in Ontario.
“Ontario was much improved,” La Grande head coach Melinda Becker-Bisenius said. “They played us tough. We got down in the third game but were able to battle back.
“It’s good for the league when there’s competition.”
Cassidy Crites finished the match with six kills and played big at the net with three solo blocks.
Brandy Blackman collected 12 digs.
Kendall Kirkland dished out 15 assists. Kali Avilia had 14 assists.
Anna Grigsby had five kills and five blocks.
La Grande improved to 8-0 on the year and is 2-0 in league play. Ontario dropped to 0-2 in the GOL.
La Grande will host a junior varsity and varsity tournament Saturday. Matches begin at 8 a.m.
