Tigers handle wet and windy Milton-Freewater

MILTON-FREEWATER — With a fifty-fifty chance, La Grande came out on top.

The Tigers girls golf team navigated a wet and windy par-60-course to shoot a team score of 390 — good enough for first place.

Baker the only other full team, took second with a 391.

“It was a big confidence booster,” La Grande head coach Kelli Miller said. “The scores might have been up, but the girls can still take a lot from today. We had a chance to match-up against Mac-Hi. We looked pretty good.”

Keri Urbanski took first with a round of 91. Nicole Webster bounced back from an off day at Ontario to card a 97, and took second.

La Grande will host its invite at the La Grande Country Club at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Area Scores

Keri Urbanski 91, Nicole Webster 97, Darcy Ladendorf 101, Brenna Christison 101, Tessa Tsiatos 110

La Grande struggles against gusty winds

MILTON-FREEWATER — La Grande paraded through the damp conditions at the Mac-Hi Invite Friday.

Fighting gusting winds and a steady downpour, the Tigers boys golf team shot a combined score of 358.

“We struggled a bit in the nasty conditions,” La Grande head coach Ron Evans said. “Still, I’m proud of the boys for hanging in there. It wasn’t easy, but they kept their cool.”

Host Mac-Hi took first with a score of 293. Nick Stanford paved the way with an even-par 60.

Mitchell Henry paced the Tigers with an 83.

Taylor Mutch carded an 85.

La Grande will travel to the Ontario Invite at 1 p.m. MT Wednesday.

Area scores

Mitchell Henry 83, Taylor Mutch 85, Tanner Orton 95, Chris Giaandrea 95, James Matheson 100.

Outlaws win after nine

PENDLETON — A typical 18-hole day turned into a surprise, a little like musical chairs.

Snowy weather shortened the Pendleton Country Club Invite to nine holes. When the music stopped playing Enterprise found themselves in the final seat.

The Outlaws shot a 162 to take first.

Freshman Cole Sajonia led Enterprise with a 39.

Wallowa finished fourth with a combined score of 188.

Tyler Harshfield led the Cougars with a 44 on the front nine.

In the first year of its program, Imbler finished eighth.

Bryson Ricker paced the Panthers with a score of 50.
