UNION COUNTY EARN WINS

JOSEPH Union County advanced to the championship semifinals with a convincing win Thursday at the North Region District 3 Babe Ruth 13-year-old Tournament.

Union County broke out of a close 7-5 game by scoring six unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings for a 17-10 win.

K.C. Frye powered Unions 14-hit attack with three hits. Dino May, Alan ODonald and K.C. Harris added two hits apiece.

The Americans, which were led by John Bauers three hits, hurt themselves with nine errors.

The SRV Nationals beat Intermountain 10-4 in the mornings other championship-bracket contest.

The SRV Nationals jumped to a 9-0 lead through three innings against Intermountain and were led by Josh Masons two hits.

Tanner Denne paced Intermountain, the Baker all-star team, with two hits, including a double.

In the afternoons consolation bracket, Harney-Grant crushed the Americans 20-7.

Harney-Grant rebounded from its opening loss by pounding the SRV Americans.

Zach DeRosier had three hits and Koryt Pratt added two hits for Harney-Grant.

The Americans were led by Daniel Schrams three hits.

Today, the SRV Nationals played Union County at 9 a.m. Wallowa Valley and Intermountain completed Thursdays consolation-bracket late game at 11:30 a.m.

Wallowa was leading 8-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning before the contest was suspended due to darkness.
