Union netters sweep Enterprise, Heppner
ENTERPRISE — The Union Lady Cats picked up a pair of Blue Mountain Conference sweeps Saturday.
UHS swept Heppner (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) and Enterprise (25-12, 25-12, 25-19).
“Against Heppner we had a really balanced attack,” Union coach Mendy Clark said.
“Heppner did not play as well as they will at the district tournament. And Enterprise is getting better every game.”
Against the Mustangs, Dani Sturm had 11 digs and seven kills.
Both Bayly Poor and Kelsey Walenta had seven kills.
Viki McCabe had four stuffed blocks, and as a team Union had nine serving aces.
In the match with the Outlaws, Sturm ahd 11 digs and five kills. Walenta added 11 digs and seven kills, while McCabe had four kills and four stuffed blocks.
“My setters did a great of distributing the ball,” Clark said.
Enterprise had 13 kills, seven serving aces and 27 digs against Union.
“We did not play with the intensity we did in our first match,” coach Lil Conrad said.
“Union is a strong team and you can’t let down and expect to come out on top.”
Union is 9-3 in the BMC. Weston-McEwen is 12-0, while Heppner is 10-3.
After a non-league game in Helix Tuesday, the Lady Cats will play four straight league games to finish the season.
Outlaws swept by Heppner
Enterprise lost to Heppner earlier in the day.
The Outlaws lost 26-24, 25-23 and 25-23.
EHS had nine kills, nine blocks and 38 digs.
“I was proud of the way the team is starting to play together,” Conrad said.
“Against Heppner, it was point for point the entire match. We never let up. Until the last point was scored, either team could have won.”
The Outlaws are now 9-10 overall and 6-7 in the BMC.
“I do believe we are coming together and if we make it to districts we could be playing our best ball,” Conrad said.
