Union softball and baseball teams clinch title game berths

The Union softball and baseball teams won their state semifinal games Tuesday.

The Union softball team moves into the OSAA Class 2A/1A state championship game for the second straight season after defeating Riddle on the road. The Bobcats will attempt to defend the state title they won last year.

The Union baseball team beat Salem Academy, 4-1 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A semifinals. This is the Bobcats first appearance in the championships since 1971 when they lost to Jefferson, 6-5.

Both games will played Friday but game times have not been scheduled yet. The Union softball team will play Irrigon and the Bobcat baseball team will play Umpqua Valley Christian.
