As hot as the weather was Monday, Wallowa Valleys offense was even hotter.

Wallowa wasted little time in beating the La Grande all-stars 21-3 in the consolation bracket here at the District 3 Girls Little League Minors Softball Tournament.

The first inning set the tone as Wallowa scored 10 runs in the top of the frame off six hits and four walks.

The second inning was more of the same as Wallowa added seven runs to take a 17-2 lead.

Wallowa, which won via the 10-run mercy rule through four innings, racked up 15 hits and were issued 10 walks by La Grandes pitchers while battling temperatues ranging from the mid to high 90s.

Andrea Schaefer led Wallowa with four hits. Ashley Graning added three hits, including two doubles.

From the circle, Graning allowed only three La Grande hits.

In the other consolation game, Baker City eased past the Triangle all-stars, 25-2.

Baker pitcher Tara Talbott allowed three hits and helped herself at the plate with three hits. She hit a double, triple and home run.

Today, Union County faced Pendleton at 11:30 a.m. in the championship semifinals.

Wallowa played Baker this morning in the consolation bracket. The winner will play the loser of the Union County/Pendleton contest at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
