WALLOWA SERVES UP WIN OVER LG JV
By The Observer
WALLOWA Wallowa may not have all the pieces of its game together yet, but the Cougars still know how to serve and play defense.
That was evident Monday when Wallowa (4-1) hosted the La Grande JV volleyball team and exited with a 15-0, 15-6 win.
We still have things we need to work on, as always, Wallowa coach Terri Wilson said.
Wallowa, though, excelled in the serving department, where it missed only one serve the entire match.
Amanda Wilson, who led Wallowa with four kills, went 13-for-13 and served nine points in a row during the first game. Lynique Oveson was 8-for-8, and Tina Stitzel and JuliAnn Snyder were 4-for-4 apiece.
Laura Lewis, who had two kills, also joined in by serving seven points in a row during the second game.
The Cougars received a strong passing performance, too, with Holli Barton, Snyder and Oveson chalking up a perfect match.
We had strong digging from all of them. Hitting was our only weak area. We hit 69 percent as a team, Wilson said.
Wallowa travels to Powder Valley Thursday.
