PENDLETON — The Wallowa boys golf team came out on top at the Special District 4 tournament Tuesday at Pendleton Country Club.
Wallowa finished with a team score of 763, while Enterprise finished with a 770 to place second. Both teams will represent Wallowa County at the state tournament next week at Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell.
The Cougars were led by Pierce Millar, whose two-day total of 182 was good enough for second place.
Teammate Karl Wellens shot a 185 to place fourth.
Millar backed up an opening-day 90 to card a 92 on a hot Tuesday in Pendleton.
His total was seven strokes off the pace of Nyssa’s Ryan Horton, who won top honors with a 175.
Wellens also opened with a 90 on Monday and came back with a 94.
Alex Coutant (189), Chaz Murray (207) and Christopher Warnock (231) will also join the Cougars at the state tournament.
The Outlaws were led by Dakota Jenkins, who finished with a total of 183.
Jenkins opened with a 93 but shaved three strokes off his score Tuesday to place in the top three.
Teammate Cody Hopkins placed fifth overall with a total of 185 after he opened the tournament with a 91 on Monday.
Jerrod Snook (198), Damon Greenshields (208) and Cody Irish (209) will also represent the Outlaws at Emerald Valley next week.
DeMeerleer leads Leopards
Colton DeMeerleer led the Cove charge, finishing ninth with a total of 189. Drew Noble carded a 209 for the Leopards, while Cameron McCowan shot a 219, Sam Silveira shot a 226 and Dylan Pretti finished with a 259.
