 COVE’S JERED WITTY WAS recognized for his efforts during the Class 1A football season. Witty helped lead the Leopards to a second-place finish in Special District 4 with a 6-3 record. Observer file photo Witty also earned first team honors as a linebacker. He helped lead the Leopards to a 6-3 regular season record. Witty completed 52 of his 109 attempts on the season for 1,239 yards. He threw for 16 touchdowns with one interception.Imbler’s Wesley Burgess was named first team running back. The senior ran for 1,372 yards on 146 attempts with 20 touchdowns. Ronald Gladden of Wallowa earned first team honors at wide receiver. The junior reeled in 44 passes for 1,006 yards and 14 touchdowns. Imbler’s Lee Lowe and Cove’s Todd Shirley shared the Coach of the Year honor. Quarterback — First Team: Jered Witty, Cove.
