The Eastern Oregon women’s soccer team is already having to reorganize its quickly-growing trophy case.
Add conference tournament champion to the list of recent firsts achieved by the upstart squad.
Taylor Boyer and Morgan Farrington scored three minutes apart, the EOU defense recorded its fifth straight shutout and the Mountaineers blanked Northwest, 2-0, Monday in the title match of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.
“It’s still kind a of a little bit shocking,” Boyer said.
The championship comes just nine days after EOU claimed the program’s first regular season conference title. It marks the sixth time in the past nine years that the regular-season champion of the CCC has gone on to win the conference
“Honestly it’s amazing that we are consistent with our play and that we have each others back on the field,” defender Chelsey Nicol said. “We know what we want. We wanted to win so bad and we worked hard for it.”
