For the fourth-straight game, Greg Schuft scored at least three goals for the La Grande boys soccer team.

Schuft had two goals in each half of the Tigers 6-1 Eastern Oregon League victory Tuesday over Baker.

As usual, he does his usual thing, La Grande coach Jessy Watson said.

Schuft, a senior, has scored 15 goals in five games this season. Tuesdays win was La Grandes fourth straight in the Eastern Oregon League.

Baker went down fighting, at least in the first half. The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 at the break.

They played a defensive strategy and it really paid off in that we didnt run up the score, Watson said.

Schuft gave La Grande its halftime lead with two goals, one of them assisted by Casey Sheehy. Ten minutes into the second half he headed in his third goal.

The wind played a role, too. La Grande goalkeeper Dustin Fuchs kicked the ball in the 57th minute and it flew more than halfway down the field, where Johan Soderlund took it on a breakaway and tapped it into the air above Bakers keeper and into the net.

Four minutes later, Soderlund assisted on Seth Penningtons 25-yarder. Schufts final goal came with three minutes before the end of the game off a corner kick from Kaylon Dunn.

La Grande next plays Thursday at home against Ontario as part of a doubleheader with the girls team.
