Another hat trick by Karli Nebeker and another shutout highlighted La Grandes 12-0 prep girls soccer victory Tuesday afternoon over Pendleton at the La Grande Middle School soccer field.

Offensively, were clicking, La Grande coach Alex Steenstra said. They were playing an offside trap and we just knew how to beat it. A lot of the goals we had were one-on-one with their keeper. We were just faster than their defense.

Nebeker assisted on La Grandes first goal, a header by Shalece Hibbert in the seventh minute. She also had an assist on Alexis Baums goal in the 44th minute.

Cathy Herrmann took a pass from Lindsey Carmichael in the 13th minute and sent a powerful shot from 16 yards out into the net for a 3-0 lead.

Caitlin Schoenfelder assisted on Nebekers second goal, and Nebekers freshman sister, Tricia, scored unassisted in the 25th minute to make it 6-0 at halftime. Carmichael had an unassisted goal in the 61st minute.

Steenstra played his starters for the first 20 minutes of each half before mass substitutions. Two freshmen brought up to varsity before the game scored the final four goals.
