Flu shots will be available to the general public beginning Nov. 1.

David Still, executive director of the Center for Human Development, announced Monday that the public health department has received 2,000 doses of the vaccine, with 500 of those going to private physicians. Additional vaccine will be available if needed, he said.

The inoculation of high-risk people, such as the elderly and those with serious chronic diseases, began Oct. 1.

The Center For Human Developments public health department has walk-in clinics from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at its office on K Avenue.

Flu shots through the health department cost $12 per immunization, but Medicare covers the cost for elderly

people.
