La Grandes volleyball team heads to Philomath today better prepared for a late-season test.

The Tigers knocked off McLoughlin Thursday, winning 15-11, 15-9. The team is traveling today to a tournament in Philomath that coach Teresa Dowdy calls a test.

Its great to kind of see where we are, Dowdy said. Weve learned a lot and weve made lots of progress. Theyll find out what they need to know for next year.

Mac-Hi had one strong hitter who was able to rally her team and make the scores close, but La Grande responded well, Dowdy said.

They did a good job of maintaining and being consistent and keeping the ball in play, she said. It was a pretty steady performance. We didnt make as many mental errors.

Kelli Greenough was 18-for-19 hitting with seven kills. She was hitting awesome, Dowdy said. Greenough also had six blocks.

Kaci Lyman 14-for-18 hitting with five kills. Danielle Tams missed one out of 18 serves and had four aces. Kylie Moore had several touches on the block, Dowdy added.

La Grande will play Marist then Sisters in Philomaths pool play before bracket play.
