A long-haul truck driver was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning while he was stopped at the rest area near Ladd Canyon.

Danny Lynn Warner, who was driving east on Interstate 84, stopped about 2:30 a.m. at the rest area near milepost 270. As he was going back to his semi-tractor-trailer, a pickup drove up beside him. The passenger, a man, got out of the pickup and ordered Warner to get down on the ground, an Oregon State Police report said.

The robber demanded Warners wallet and rings. After Warner gave the robber his possessions, the robber shoved the barrel of a gun into the back of his neck and told Warner to stay on the ground and count to 1,000, the OSP said.

As soon as the pickup left, Warner called police.

The pickup, which was eastbound when it left the rest area, is described as a dark-colored mid-size truck with dual exhaust, possibly a Dodge Ram or Ford Ranger, OSP said.

The suspect is described as a young, adult, white male in dark clothes. Police are still looking for the suspect vehicle.
