EASTERN WOMEN WIN THIRD STRAIGHT

CALDWELL, Idaho The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers womens basketball team rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit for a 67-58 victory Saturday over Whitman at the Best Inn & Suites Lady Yote Classic.

Eastern (3-1) trailed 47-38 in the second half but shot 52 percent from the field in the period to fly past Whitman (0-2).

Four Mountaineers scored in double figures, led by 15 points from Brooke Sellards, who also pulled down 12 rebounds.

Rachelle Stockman started in place of Tori Van Brocklin and scored 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Tricia Haddock added 13 points, six assists and three steals and Jamie Jo Cant had 11 points and seven assists.

Heather Epeldi almost had a double-double off the bench, getting 10 rebounds and nine points.

Eastern trailed 30-26 at halftime.

The Mountaineers, who have won three in a row, next play Sunday against Walla Walla College in College Place, Wash.
