IMBLER Tiffany Rasmussen looked surprised when told she had scored 20 points.

Thats an all-right start, I guess, the senior said Tuesday night after helping the Imbler Panthers girls basketball team win the first game of its season, 50-41 over Weston-McEwen.

Rasmussen has been sick and said she just had three hours of sleep the night before. She came out on fire, however, scoring 10 points in the first quarter as Imbler created a 22-10 lead.

She didnt play sick, did she? asked Imbler coach Dale Wagner.

Senior Meaghan Campbell also had a hand in the hot start, scoring eight of her 10 points in the first quarter.

Im pretty proud of how far shes come since she was a sophomore, even since last year, Wagner said.

Imbler had a 36-18 halftime lead, but against the Panthers second team, Weston-McEwen cut the lead to five, 46-41, in the fourth quarter. That forced Wagner to put his starters back in with two minutes to play.

We just wanted to give everyone else a lot of playing time today, he said.

Rasmussen secured the victory with a pair of layups in the final 40 seconds.
