HEPPNER Wallowa coach Marvin Gibbs couldnt complain for his teams first outing this season Friday.

Since the Cougars havent been able to practice outdoors due to weather, the Heppner Invitational was a good chance to see what his golfers could do.

I was happy. It wasnt bad at all, Gibbs said. Its nice to get out and putt rather than just hit some balls.

Theres room for improvement, but Im not disappointed. Im happy we played as well as we did.

Wallowas boys finished fourth with a score of 450. Heppner won with a 365.

Joe McDaniel paced the Cougars with a 100 score.

For the girls, Wallowa took third with 534. Riverside won at 419.

Angela Bombaci shot Wallowas low score with a 123.

Wallowa travels to Union on April 6 for its next tournament.
