A 13-game winning streak and wins over three of the top five teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference have put the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers womens basketball team into the NAIA top 25.

The NAIA Division II raters gave Eastern 112 votes, good for 18th on the list released Tuesday.

Eastern broke the school record for consecutive wins Saturday with a 76-51 win over Evergreen State. The Mountaineers lead the conference with a 6-0 record and have wins over second-place Albertson (5-1) and third-place Western Baptist (4-2) and Southern Oregon (4-2).

Eastern will play the other third-place team, Concordia (4-2) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Portland. Concordia was ranked 19th in the nation last week before losing to Western Baptist.

The Mountaineers play sixth-place Cascade (2-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Coach Anji Weissenfluh has now taken two Mountaineer teams into the NAIA top 25. Her softball teams went to the national tournament in 1999 and 2000, finishing fourth in 1999.
