January 21, 2002 11:00 pm

A three-vehicle accident Monday evening left three people with minor injuries at the intersection of Pierce Road and Highway 237.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a truck pulling a trailer, driven by Gordon DeVries of Baker City, failed to stop at the stop sign on the north side of Highway 237, State Police said.

As DeVries went through the intersection, his vehicles were struck by an SUV-type vehicle driven by Rebecca Story of Kerns Loop in Cove and also by a Chevrolet pickup driven by David Ladd of Cedar Street in Elgin. Ladd had a passenger, Trishila Sorensen, in his vehicle.

State Police cited DeVries with failure to obey a traffic control device (the stop sign) following the accident.

Story was taken by ambulance to Grande Ronde Hospital. Ladd and Sorensen were both taken to the hospital by a friend.

According to a spokewoman at the hospital this morning, all three were treated for minor injuries, but no one was were kept in the hospital. No report on the speed of the vehicles was available from the State Police, but road conditions at the time of the accident were slippery with a packed snow cover.
