BOYS HOOPS: JOSEPH WINS 10TH STRAIGHT

Joseph Joseph won its sixth straight Wapiti League boys basketball game Friday, routing Elgin, 83-59.

Joseph coach Ron Lathrop said the Eagles passed the ball well and played a good first quarter. Joseph (15-1, 6-0) outscored Elgin 27-7 in the first period.

Tyler Nall led the Eagles with 25 points, while Levi Stubblefield and Marcus Wells each added 15 points.

Brandon Burgess and Charlie Schumacher scored 12 points apiece for Elgin (8-6, 3-4). Brandon Evans had 10 points.

WALLOWA STUMBLES AGAIN

Wallowa The Wallowa Cougars did not have a lot of pep Friday, eventually falling to Union, 65-56.

Wallowa coach Gerry McLain said his team came out flat and was behind from the beginning.

McLain said just about every loose ball fell into Unions hands instead of the Cougars.

Unions Jordi Steenstra led all scorers with 26 points. Jeremy Shankel added 18 points for Union (7-8, 3-4). Todd Satterfield scored 10 points.

Shane Byers had 24 points for Wallowa (7-9, 2-5) and Randy Spaur pitched in 18 points.

IMBLER'S BENCH SHINES

Imbler Enterprise started slowly, and Imbler took advantage Friday, eventually winning the Wapiti League game in a rout, 72-47.

Enterprise (4-11, 2-5) was dealt a six-point deficit after the first quarter. Imbler (11-6, 6-1) steadily pulled away in the second half.

Imbler had a lot of help from its bench, in addition to the scoring from the starters.

Junior Ethan Davis came off the bench to score a career-best 17 points. Freshman Tanner McIntosh had 28 points. Colin Culbreth added 12 points.

We got a good balanced game out of the starters, Ken Kramer said.

Enterprises Eric Stangel and Tim Gilbert each scored 10 points.

COVE FALLS ON THE ROAD

JORDAN VALLEY The Jordan Valley Mustangs held onto their Old Oregon League boys basketball lead with a 69-41 victory Friday over the Cove Leopards.

Jordan Valley had four players score in double figures and pulled away in the second quarter.

We were down 27-21 with three minutes left in the half, then they went on a 10-0 run to close the half, Cove coach Todd Gorham said.

Justin Marler led Cove (1-12, 1-5) with 17 points, while Devan Frank added nine points.
