Oregon State Police arrested two Washington residents on drug-related charges on Interstate 84 just west of La Grande about midnight Monday.

Jacob Drake Harvey of University Place, Wash., and Eric A. Williford of Tacoma, Wash., were arrested at milepost 259 when officers stopped a 1991 Toyota Cressida for a traffic infraction.

Police first detected a small amount of marijuana and then discovered three pounds of the substance in the trunk of the car, said Lt. Reg Madsen.

The men, both 21, were taken to the Union County jail, where they were scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), distribution of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, Madsen said.
