The Eastern Oregon womens basketball team won its first Cascade Collegiate Conference title Saturday.

It feels great, Julie Coffin said. Its something we could do all season.

Eastern (20-4 overall, 13-3 league) was in command from the beginning.

Coffin scored 19 points in their 81-62 victory over Cascade.

Eastern coach Anji Weissenfluh said this season will be looked back on after the team went from last to first place in one year.

It feels awesome, Brooke Sellards said.

Sellards said from the beginning of the season, goals have changed, and they expected more of themselves every game.

In this game, Eastern wanted to put a stamp on their remarkable season.

Coffin and Sellards dominated the second half. They pounded the ball inside and outside.

Cascade was unable to stop Easterns momentum in the second half.

Eastern shot 47 percent from the field, 43 percent from the 3-point arc and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

Eastern hopes to get well for the beginning of playoffs this Friday.

Were kinda worn down, Weissenfluh said.

Sellards led Eastern with 27 points. Alicia Riddle was Cascades top scorer with 29 points.
