The City of La Grande has announced details for the annual Spring Cleanup Day, which is April 21.

On this day, city residents can dispose free of charge their yard debris at the Material Recovery Facility, 3412 Highway 30. Its between the Blue Mountain Humane Association/Animal Shelter and the U.S. Forest Service.

The center will be open from

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that Saturday to receive items.

Only usual and customary yard debris will be accepted. No household appliances, burn barrels or tires will be accepted.

The urban wood and yard debris will be recycled through the center.

The La Grande Fire Department volunteers will offer free pick-up curb service for senior citizens and disabled residents. Those who need this service should call the department at 963-3123 before 5 p.m. April 20, and they should observe the following rules:

All yard debris must be boxed or bagged; plastic bags will not be accepted.

People should tie tree limbs and trimmings in manageable bundles. Large limbs should be cut in 4- to 6-foot lengths and should be no heavier than what two people can lift.
